When did you last went for winter vacation? In Sweden it is called "Sportlov"

The "Sportlov" is a one-week sports vacation that takes place between the end of February and the first week of March, children receive a one-week break from school to enjoy winter activities with their family.

As a mother of three children, one of the things that excited me about Sweden was the sports vacation that my children usually have in school, which typically falls between the end of February and the first week of March.

During this vacation, families get the opportunity to spend time together and enjoy the winter activities that are available throughout Sweden during this time of year, such as skiing, snowboarding, and sledding. Many families choose to spend this time at various winter resorts around Sweden, while some cities organize entertaining activities for children during the holiday.

Every year, we would travel to a new city in Sweden to explore and take advantage of the winter vacation to discover the country's beautiful nature. However, this year, I made the decision to stay at home in our small town. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of fun activities and events that were organized by the municipality for children. We had a great time close to home, with the children enjoying skiing at the local ski resort, Arboga Alpina. They also had story time at the Arboga library, and there were tennis, golf, and other creative activities, such as movie making, available as well.

In my opinion, the timing of the "Sportlov" is ideal because it falls before spring but during a time when the days are longer, and the sun is more prominent. This encourages people to go out and helps create a vacation atmosphere, As a lover of winter in Sweden, discovering Sportlov is certainly one of the things that I have enjoyed the most about Sweden.
